Todays image is another Holga shot. Radio City Music Hall is know throughout the world and its Art Deco signage is just as iconic. This shot is form the marquee coming from uptown toward where else but our favorite’ Van Leeuwen on 6th. As for Van Leeuwen, not that the Walmarts carries them some of the magic is gone.

Quiet Spaces

When I am photo rambling the streets of New York I am intrigued by how many quiet spaces there are in the city. For a city of roughly 8.5 million people you would expect people to all over the place but that really isn’t the case. The time of day, day of the week, and season have a large bearing on the crowd size. If I recall correctly this image was taken in the early spring on Thursday. Unlike Arthur Dent I can get the hang of Thursdays. The seems to be filled with people just living their day to day life. Nothing remarkable just life in the city. This image was taken on Portra 400 and processed at home. I converted it to B&W to enhance the graphic quality of the buildings and the isolation of the figure in the lower left corner.

Liberty of the High Line

Todays image is a little different. I am largely a film shooter but I do own some nice digital equipment. Over the weekend I shot a volunteer job for a high school and I shot the job on my DSLR. I know that people can get pretty territorial about their equipment or process. For me personally it has always been about the process at the time. Personally I love the look and process of film, but there is no denying a DSLR is just a lot less costly and faster to shoot if you are doing everything yourself. So when I was looking for an image for today I looked through digital catalog. This image was from a a year ago. My wife and I were running into the city for dinner and the light was great so I grabbed my DSLR for some grab shots on the High Line.
